The black onyx is a flat cabochon approximately 25 x 18 mm and is held by a gold wire wrapped around the outside edge. The single cut diamond is bead set in a four point star. Both diamond and eagle are secured by rivet tube thru the onyx to a gold cross piece on the back. The pendant is suspended on a 16 inch flat rectangular link yellow gold chain, tested 14k. The pendant is of hand made construction, likely made as a piece of mourning jewelry and possibly dating as early as the post Civil War period. The pendant and chain weigh approximately 8.93 grams. Pendant is stamped 10K and is in good condition. |
